Veterinary Services

We offer free veterinary care at FFF Veterinary Clinic that you may choose to use for your Frosted Face. FFF may make medical decisions differently from private vets or make referrals for services that cannot be provided for free. We aim to provide veterinary care that an animal-lover of average means could reasonably pursue at a general practice. Because care at FFF is free and therefore in high demand, scheduling and funding prioritizes pets with senior-related medical issues.

We do highly encourage families to establish care with the family veterinarian upon adoption and invest in pet insurance, with reasonable expectations to cover the cost of care for their Frosted Face when resources at FFF are not available. The Family is ultimately responsible for the timely and quality medical care of the Frosted Face upon adoption. Please review our full Vet Team Mission here.

1. Email the Family Support Specialists at support@frostedfacesfoundation.org to schedule a veterinary appointment at FFF Veterinary Hospital when needed for pets adopted from FFF. We can do bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds, prescribe medication, and do many surgeries! We are open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-6:30pm.

 2. We can fill and refill medications that have been prescribed by an FFF veterinarian.
a. Please use the Prescription Refill Request form to request medications or call and leave a voicemail with the request at (760) 654-3133.
i. Filled for pick up at FFF Veterinary Hospital (Free)
ii. Called into a local pharmacy (Not reimbursable)
b. Please use this link to place an order on the FFF Online Pharmacy.
i. Medications will be shipped directly to your home (Pre-pay and be reimbursed)
ii. Submit receipts within 30 days on the Reimbursement Form

3. You may pursue care outside of these guidelines and assume financial responsibility.
a. FFF offers a $500/year grant toward major medical expenses at a private practice more than 60 miles away, emergency facility, or specialty hospital. This grant is awarded at FFF’s discretion.

What to expect at an FFF Veterinary appointment

  1. You will be asked to fill out a Patient History via email prior to the appointment.

  2. Knock on the front door to announce your arrival. You will be invited to sit on the covered patio with your Frosted Face.

  3. A veterinary technician will review your patient history and document your primary concerns. They will also obtain consent for diagnostics.

  4. Your Frosted Face will be escorted inside to be weighed, and have his/her temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate recorded. You will be asked to wait on the patio, because our current space does not have private exam rooms.

  5. The veterinarian will examine your Frosted Face and assign diagnostics to be performed.

  6. The veterinarian will sit with you on the patio to discuss his/her findings and propose a treatment plan.

  7. The veterinary team will execute the treatment plan with your approval.

  8. A veterinary technician will bring your Frosted Face back out to you on the patio at the conclusion of your appointment. They will review the medications being sent home along with further treatment recommendations.

We collect no payment for the visit from families.
    Appointments typically last 45 minutes.

 We love updates!

The Family must provide at least two clear and different pictures or videos of the Frosted Face each month to FFF via Facebook or the FFF Portal. Submissions may be shared on social media and in the newsletters.

BOARDING

Bob-4522.jpg

We board seniors at Frosted Faces Foundation! We can administer medication, injections, and subcutaneous fluids. We can give medicated baths, clean ears, and do eye drops. We have a vet on-site to provide necessary emergent care too! With the help of volunteers, we can accommodate dogs with mobility issues and even those with incontinence who need diaper changes.

We know seniors require specialized care, and we are here to help!
Check out our Frosted Friends boarding program.

Please also consider reaching out to these time-tested in home sitters. They are also FFF adopters!
