Part time Veterinarian (As needed)
Frosted Faces Foundation (FFF) is seeking a Part Time Veterinarian to provide veterinary care for senior pets, including animals in FFF’s care, pets available for adoption, adopted Frosted Faces, and privately owned pets participating in FFF programs.
Depending on experience and organizational needs, the position may focus on general-practice care through FFF’s PASS Program, surgical services, or both.
The PASS Program provides practical, general-practice veterinary support for senior pets and their families, helping address medical needs while keeping care accessible. Services are provided within FFF’s clinical protocols, available resources, and appointment capacity. The veterinarian will provide examinations, diagnostics, treatment recommendations, prescriptions, and follow-up care consistent with the program’s scope. Sound clinical judgment is essential, including recognizing when referral to a pet’s regular veterinarian or a veterinary specialist is appropriate.
Compensation: $100/hour
Schedule: As needed, based on mutual availability
FFF Veterinary Center is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
Eight-hour shifts may be scheduled flexibly, with start times between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and end times between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., depending on operational needs. FFF Veterinary Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
FFF provides 40 hours of paid sick leave annually, subject to applicable law, and covers approved professional expenses as outlined above. If the position expands to more than 30 hours per week, the veterinarian may become eligible for additional benefits, including paid time off, health, dental and vision insurance, retirement contributions, and continuing education support, subject to FFF policies and applicable eligibility requirements. All hours worked must be recorded and are compensated in accordance with applicable law. Employment is at will and contingent upon maintaining an active California veterinary license in good standing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide examinations, diagnostics, treatment plans, and medical care for animals in FFF’s care and privately owned pets participating in FFF programs.
Coordinate veterinary services through the PASS Program, including patient evaluations, prescriptions, diagnostic review, treatment recommendations, and follow-up, as applicable.
Perform spay/neuter, dental, and soft-tissue surgeries as appropriate to qualifications and assigned responsibilities.
Maintain accurate, timely medical records, including examination findings, diagnostic results, treatment plans, and surgical reports.
Communicate medical instructions and recommendations to staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and clients.
Collaborate with FFF management and veterinary staff to coordinate patient care and continuity of treatment.
Monitor animal health, support disease prevention, and recommend or perform humane euthanasia in accordance with FFF protocols.
Perform other veterinary duties consistent with qualifications and assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree and active California veterinary license in good standing.
Clinical experience appropriate to assigned duties, including surgical experience if applicable.
Shelter medicine experience preferred.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
Commitment to compassionate veterinary care for senior pets.

What You’ll Do:
-Assist with dental procedures and other medical care for senior pets
-Support anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery under veterinarian supervision
-Provide gentle handling and comfort-focused care for geriatric patients
-Assist with medical record keeping that supports adoption and continuity of care
-Help maintain instruments, cleanliness, and efficient clinic flow
-Work collaboratively with veterinarians, RVTs, staff, volunteers, and families
Who You Are:
-An experienced veterinary technician (non-RVT) or assistant with hands-on clinical experience
-Comfortable assisting with anesthesia, patient monitoring, and basic clinical procedures
-Calm, compassionate, and patient-focused, especially with senior animals
-Reliable, adaptable, and a strong team player
-Passionate about animal welfare and mission-based veterinary medicine
Compensation:
$20-$25/hour (based on experience)
