Fanny
Acquired from: SEAACA (Southeast Area Animal Control Authority)
Age upon Rescue: 12 years old
Date of Rescue: March 16, 2024
Date of Passing: May 27, 2024
Family: Kimberly Chong
Fans: Lisa Switzer
Tribute: On May 27th, Kimberley fulfilled their promise to Frosted Face Fanny.
She shared,
"Sometimes fostering doesn’t end the way you hope. Sometimes there just isn’t enough time for both a foster family and a forever family, so the foster family becomes both.
When we and I made our first visit to Frosted Faces in April, we saw Fanny in her kennel quietly recovering from surgery. We committed to a two week foster fling and set the goal of getting her healthy for adoption. Two weeks and pounds of treats later, we decided we weren’t ready to send her back and wanted to foster her long term. In the seven weeks she was with us, Fanny went on adventures - road trips, dog parks, dog beaches, ice cream pack walks, and volunteer events. We started to see more of her personality shine through. Fanny loved soft beds and chicken jerky treats, but more importantly she loved other dogs and people. She saved her biggest tail wags for greeting anyone who walked through the front door with treats, and never failed to try to play with every dog she met on our walks, even when the tumors made walking difficult.
As with everyone and everything we love, no amount of time is ever enough. Although we would have loved to have many more days with Fanny, we are grateful that she was loved not just by us, but by the entire Frosted Faces family. Fostering isn’t for the faint-hearted, but we have no regrets. Run free, Fanny girl. It was an honor to care for and love you."

Tribute: On April 1st, we fulfilled our promise to Frosted Face Pablo.
Unfortunately, we see a lot of sick dogs here at FFF. Many who were surrendered to the shelter because they needed care, and some of them we just don't get our hands on soon enough.
Pablo came to us with very high eye pressures and fairly normal labs, so we bumped him to the front of the surgery list for a bilateral enucleation. After surgery, Pablo just didn't seem to be doing great and new labs showed sky high liver and kidney values. His skin even became yellow. We discovered he had a liver mass that ruptured and his belly was full of blood. It was devastating, but pointed us only in one direction, "Good bye."
Pablo was babied by vet and kennel staff the whole two weeks he was with us, never wanting for anything. All of the staff surrounded him in tears as we released him from his failing body. You will find his paw print in the rock garden out in front of FFF along with other Frosted Faces we have loved and lost.

DECLAN
Acquired from: Orange County Animal Care (OCAC)
Age upon Rescue: 13 years old
Date of Rescue: March 20, 2024
Date of Passing: April 1, 2024
Family: Paula Rushton
Fans: RZ
Tribute: On April 1st, we fulfilled our promise to Frosted Face Declan.
Declan entered OC Animal Care as a stray back in March. We exited him with four other seniors and couldn't wait to do a dental on him to get the big yellow chonker infected teeth out. His lab work reflected stage 1 kidney issues and he had pep in his step.
Volunteer Coordinator, Paula Rushton, was eager to take any of our Frosted Faces on a 2 week Fling- whoever needed it most! We let her know Declan was our most fragile, and she agreed to bring him home without hesitation. She discovered, "Declan = 'full of goodness', indeed!"
Unfortunately, she experienced Declan declining meals and not thriving. She rushed him back to FFF where new labs showed he was in stage 4 kidney failure without a urinary tract infection, and his temperature was very low. We were losing him and had to let him go. It was surprising and really sad, and man, I wish we could have sent him to heaven with a more comfortable mouth. Sometimes, it's not about fixing them all up, but loving them for the time that is left. We are so lucky that Paula showed Declan that his life mattered. Thank you. xo

Tribute: On August 13th, CJ and Kirsten fulfilled their promise to Gerry.
They shared,
"Our family would like to thank Gerry, formerly Hollywood Hal, for all of the love he brought to our home. Our 2 and 3 year old girls were terrified of dogs before Gerry entered our lives. Within the first moments of meeting, they were instantly drawn in by his calm and sweet personality. His patience is unmatched, as he quietly embraced their toddler antics. Thanks to Gerry, our girls have built confidence around dogs and have learned to love and respect all animals.
Although we only had 3 short months with him, we hope he loved us as much as we loved him. He truly was the goodest boy."
COFFEE SHOP CHRISSY
Acquired from: Redlands Animal Shelter
Age upon Rescue: 16 years old
Date of Rescue: March 22, 2024
Date of Passing: August 2, 2024
Family: Delia Haust, Lynda Donato, Sam & Jade Babbitt
Fans: Cynthia Dean
Tribute: On August 2nd, Jade and Sam fulfilled their promise to Frosted Face Coffee Shop Chrissy. Chrissy was fostered by a few wonderful foster families that included Sam & Jade, Lynda, and Delia.
They shared,
"Today, we gather to honor and remember our sweet Coffee Shop Chrissy, a gentle soul who touched our hearts in profound ways. Chrissy was more than just a dog; she was a symbol of resilience and love, teaching us the true meaning of compassion and care.
Chrissy came to us with many challenges. She was blind and deaf, with an autoimmune disorder and a liver tumor, but she never let these obstacles diminish her spirit. Her courage in the face of adversity was truly inspiring. Despite her struggles, Chrissy's presence brought joy and warmth to our home. She had a unique way of connecting with us, reminding us every day of the importance of kindness and patience.
As we watched her decline, our hearts ached. We knew her time with us was limited, but the impact she had on our lives will last forever. On August 2nd, 2024, Chrissy crossed the rainbow bridge. In her final moments, we were all there, some by phone/video—Jade Babbitt, Lynda Donato , and I—surrounding her with love and tears. We cried for our sweet girl, who had given us so much in her short time with us.
Chrissy's legacy will live on in the memories we shared and the lessons she taught us. She showed us the beauty of giving second chances and the importance of caring for those who need it most. Chrissy, you will always be in our hearts, a shining example of love's enduring power.
Run free sweet girl, our dear Chrissy. We will miss you dearly, but we find comfort in knowing you are now free from pain, running happily over the rainbow bridge. Thank you for blessing our lives with your presence.
A very special thank you to FFF, Dr Russell, Vet Staff, and Fans like Cynthia Dean."
ANASTASIA
Acquired from: SEAACA (Southeast Area Animal Control Authority)
Age upon Rescue:12 years old
Date of Rescue: March 22, 2024
Date of Passing: September 7, 2024
Family: Narola Kindness
Fans: Anita Moonen
Tribute: On September 7th, Narola fulfilled her promise to Frosted Face Anastasia.
She shared,
"When I first saw Anastasia (AKA Ana) on the Available Frosted Faces page I fell in love with her immediately. I loved her endearing disheveled look and her bright eyes. I knew that she was very ill and that she was in a good foster home but I still wanted her to spend whatever time she had left with me and my other Frosted Face, Poker. She brought with her, her sweet calm energy and her stoic personality.
She wasn’t much for cuddles but she let me pet her as much as I wanted and she stayed close by both Poker and I. Although she was nearly deaf and blind, she quickly oriented herself to the house, yard, Poker and I. She didn’t let her severe arthritis keep her from wandering around the house and yard throughout the day and night. Since she was very skinny and a picky eater,, she was spoiled with every type of food she wanted. And still she would lay by Poker as he ate and cleaned his bowl when he was finished.
She wasn’t with us for as long as I had hoped (9 short weeks), but she was loved a lot and will be missed for a long time."

Tribute: On June 4th, Andrea fulfilled her promise to Frosted Face Stevie.
She shared,
"I had no idea when I adopted my soul dog Stevie (fka Cookie Coupon) that she would be with me for less than 2 months. I said goodbye to my senior beagle Benny in April of 2023 and moved from Minneapolis to San Diego. I started following Frosted Faces but hadn’t felt totally ready to adopt again, until a few days after the 1 year anniversary of his death, a 14 year old frosted beagle popped up on their page. I promptly inquired about coming to meet her and adopted her on the spot.
I have never met a dog quite like Stevie. She settled in like she had lived with me all her life. She had been through so much, yet her tail was constantly wagging and she acted half her age.
She was sweet, cuddly, confident, goofy and never met a human or other dog she didn’t want to befriend. She loved to sunbathe, nap, and howl when she was really excited (or wanted my food). I will miss her burrowing under the covers, hiding her treats in the weirdest places, stuffing multiple toys in her mouth and above all else, loving me. My heart is shattered. But I know we found our way to each other to be reminded of what unconditional love feels like, no matter how brief. I’m so grateful to have been the one to make her final days so special. Rest in peace, my girl 💕"

Family: Rachel Woolsey
Fans: Ellie & Fred
Tribute: Amelia's mom passed away earlier this year and she was taken care of by her dog sitter until family could secure a place for her to live. Then they found us!
It was clear that Amelia was loved well, but she was blind and our diagnostics showed she was in stage 4 kidney failure. You would never know it by the looks of her! RVT Rachel attentively cared for her at FFF and ultimately took her home so she could know family.
Amelia came to work with her and toodled at all of the nurses' feet. When at home, she got her fluids, kidney diet, and big orthopedic bed. Familiarity was key and Rachel is so good with our hospice dogs.
Rachel shared,
"When Amelia was first diagnosed with kidney disease I knew she would require special attention like daily fluids and medications, so I decided to take her home with me. She was always so sweet and docile that I knew she wouldn’t be any trouble. At first she was a little out of sorts, like any dog would be, but she soon found a big bed to fall asleep in. Amelia spent most of her time relaxing, not being a bother to my other dogs or cats. It didn’t take her long to fit right in. She tolerated her fluids ok, only a little squirmy, and I discovered she loved cat food! So it was easy to administer her medications, and she enjoyed the treat. I would take her to work with me from time to time and she would always find a nice place to lay either outside or on a bed next to another dog, never complaining. Although I only knew Amelia for a short time, it didn’t take long to discover what a great dog she was. I am happy and feel privileged I was able to give her a home in her final days and be surrounded by people that cared about her."
In the end, Amelia's temperature got dangerously low (93 degrees) and she was very pale and listless. We had been wavering about the right time to let her go, and this was it. All of the staff were present and surrounded her in tear.

Thank you for letting me be your mommy🩷I miss you so much! You didn’t give any indication you were ready for Rainbow Bridge, and I’m so, so sorry I wasn’t there when you crossed. That will haunt me forever.
I fell in love with you when you were living with Foster Mom, Sue. I would stalk every post and photo of you. When I finally met you in person, I knew I had to take you home with me.
You were the sweetest, spunkiest girl I ever met! You got along with everyone and everyone loved you.
Everly, you enjoyed the sling life and I will miss having you close to me on our daily walks, I will miss (yes!) your barking at exactly 6am and 6pm to let me know it’s time to eat, I will miss your cute snuffling noises when you would explore the park, I will miss your little head tilt when I spoke to you, I will miss your little smile when I rocked you and sang “Hot Potato.”
I didn’t get enough time with you, and I’m heartbroken💔"

Tribute: On September 26th, Joann fulfilled her promise to Pretty Woman.
She shared,
"I picked up Pretty Women with the intention of taking her for a two week fling. The two week fling turned into 4 months before I sadly had to make the decision to send her over the rainbow bridge due to her advanced CCD.
Pretty Women loved to eat and and seemed to enjoy a cuddle and ear rub, all of which I was very happy to provide. There is such a sense of unfairness that Pretty Women and so many other senior dogs get dealt a bad hand in life and then very often, only get to experience love, kindness and comfort for such a short period of time before they leave us.
I am so happy that I was able, along with the kindness of Frosted Faces, to provide her with love and some happiness in the short time we had together. She will be in my heart until we meet again on the other side."
